  Kevin,
I've been following your Bollinger(16,2.5) filter as it is similar to the system I follow, i.e., seeks to identify extreme price moves. Let me offer some ideas on how I use trading entry and exits.

1st, when my filter identifies a stock, I wait for Slow Stochastic(7,3) %K to go below 25 before it crosses above the %D (trigger line). So far this hasn't helped my entry on STEC (bought in Sept. 22 at $31) but this provides a logical stop loss below the recent low. I think of it as a form of insurance. We'll see how this plays out tomorrow.

2nd, I try to line up with the fundamentals by checking out a couple of sites:
      http://www.nasdaq.com/earnings/analyst_summary.asp?symbol=STEC&symbol=GLW&selected=STEC
      http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/StockRating/srsmain.asp?symbol=stec

I appreciate your sharing your work. Also your taking the time to pass along the IBD top stocks list.

I agree with your stopped clock description of Cramer but but I watch him for entertainment value (he's almost as funny as Seinfeld). Sometimes he comes up with a good idea which I check out before plutting any money on it. My wife can't stand him so it's a good thing we have 2 TV's. It was interesting to google his recommendations record.

Thanks for those charts, I trade with TDameritrade and I have acess to Thinkorswim. I'm going to find out if the Effective Volume is available thru them. They sure tell the story the why I read them. Your participation I'm sure is appreciated by many. Looking at ICON on a regular chart one would not suspect what was happening quietly while the fat cats were unloading.
 Trade safe,
 Gabe

RIMM Effective volume was intersting one. It showed large sell off in the last two days which could have predicted the major drop today.

The active boundary of the RIMM

and this is the 20 Days moving average of effecive volume

I guess this method would have been more useful two days ago. RIMM 70 Oct puts went up by 400% today from yesterday.

Gabe, I am trying to get Pacal's original excel add on that calculates the effective volume. Once i get it, i will share it. Now i am using Pascals website but problem with that, only some stocks are displayed.

a24ali: We are all appreciative of your input here. If you get the Excel add-on, you may be restricted in sharing it with others.
