I had a limit order in place at 15.50 for BJRI, but thought that it might not get filled, so I changed it to a market order instead. Could have saved 0.09 on the entry.
Truth is, I may need to buy at the close instead of at the open of the next day - here is another example of why. It closed yesterday at 15.37.
EDIT - I revise my opinion on this to say "look for a confirmation before buying in as this market is beginning to disintegrate." Obviously this is being written after the market hosed us today.

ICON and CRGN are giving BUY signals this afternoon.
CRGN is about to merge with Celldex (CLDX), and the terms are such that, depending on the Celldex price at the close on 9/30, CRGN may be the majority owner (the deal is that CRGN will merge with CLDX for $94.5 M, getting that value of CLDX stock in return. So if CLDX drops lower, CRGN gets more shares and will have majority ownership).
Not sure why CRGN dropped today, no clear news.
ICON had good news today, but dropped anyway.
I am going to wait for a confirming signal on both of these (close tomorrow higher than close today) using this filter for now:
Good hunting!

Hey Kevin,
I used your (9,2) Bollinger Band strategy on the VIX today ..... it was sitting at the lower band on the close yesterday .... so i thought i would wait till the Fed news was out and, if the market popped, I would aggresively short.
I was actually quite short beforehand with other stocks, but added several positions around 2:35 - 2:45 PM including the SDS.
So I go for coffee, work a little on a file, and check my screen at 3:50 PM - Bingo, I am up around 12K and several of the positions crossed the 5 DMA, my normal exit. So I am out.
Thanks for that advice earlier.

Up 12K off a 2% drop top to bottom - you play big, my friend.
Glad to help. Remember that that correlation was for the VIX, which is an indirect measure of the S&P. I would think that trading BB on SDS would also be effective, perhaps worth looking at in more detail.

I guess it did not hurt that I played the QID and SKF along with the SDS picking them up close to their lows and exiting near their highs around 3:55 .... this does not happen often enough ! I guess sometimes I play too big for my own good ... but not today!

Rough day so far today - It's only 10:30 AM and the average yield on the open trades has dropped into negative territory (now at -0.34%, was at +4.01% two days ago). Ouch.
Keeping an eye on both CRGN and ICON to see where they net out. If they close above yesterday's close, i'll take that as a confirmation for entry.

Kevin:
They all will bounce back. Don't forget these stocks are not the dogs of Wall Street, if the top guns can't survive than the whole country will be in the tank. CAT,AAPL, plus other leaders are retracing.

Agreed on all points.
ICON is currently down 0.70 (-4.34%) from yesterday's close.
CRGN is up about 0.02 (+1.50%) from yesterday's close.

BUY filter pulled up the following:
ICON (again)
ALLI
OFG
ARTG (already in portfolio)
Confirmation filter posted above gives no hits - both CRGN and ICON closed lower today. I'm keeping these in a separate watchlist right now, so that I can see when they give a confirmation signal.
