3/3/2018 12:35:54 PM The problem with a fixed 2% target is you will eventually get gapped for a 20% --30%--or 40% loss if you hold overnight. I would need a winning % > 75 to feel comfortable holding overnight. I'm assuming worse case scenario as I realize there will be gaps in your favor. If you enter at the open and exit at the close of the same day then your stop should always work and your win % need not be as high. With a 2% target and a 3% stop you need to win 62% of your trades just to break even but more like 67% for it to be a trade-able strategy . 2% target ??-I don't know man??- You have to hit some home runs with any strategy. I'm all ears if someone has a 2% strategy that they use successfully. |

3/3/2018 12:49:09 PM Another thing to consider is the likelihood of you getting out right at 2%. I’ve seen some spike up, and by the time your order is processed it’s back down. I wouldn’t personally trade this, seems like there is too much going against you. |

3/3/2018 2:40:45 PM Just wondering why would one just want a 2% to 3% win when trends last way longer than 2% to 3%. I've gotten runs way better than 2% to 3%. Just what are you using as a by trigger or a sell trigger anyway. There are 10,000 filters that one could design with SF but what's the BUY and SELL triggers. Even TRO's and 13th_floors filters had more or less opening the next day with a "Green on the screen" idea, meaning price is green still after the 1st half hour to the first hour or so. |

3/3/2018 3:22:56 PM Not every set up will pan out. The best learning is by one's own pace. Pick what works and throw out what doesn't. To me set ups like ERY a few weeks ago are trends that I'm looking for. A 54.69 % gain is way better than 2% to 3%. Then again any gain is GOOD . IMHO. |

If a person develops a system and likes it, one thing they could say is "sell it when you feel like it or hold it forever because it might come back someday" therefore making it not so much of a trading strategy but rather "I buy stocks and sometimes sell them an other times I don't" That makes it hard for others to follow your methodologies even if they work for you. So, as is quite common, people on forums like this one will set SOME sort of parameter. The instant they do, for example if they say "sell at 15% profit" someone will dig through all 8500 stocks and find one that went up 20% and say "that was bad advice because this stock rose 5 additional points" So it's sort of a catch 22. It's interesting to read everyone's viewpoint. That's what makes stock trading quite challenging. Keep contributing to this thread so we can all benefit together. |

3/6/2018 11:13:30 AM And as far as "how do you set a 2% target" a rather easy way is to place the buy order before the market opens, see what price that executed at, and set a sell order 2% higher. If the stock opens at $20 you might set a sell at 20.40. The reason my system suggests it is that it targets stocks in SHORT TERM phases and my desire is to make 2% and do it over and over. And I think it might have been Ed that asked why does your system have different results at different times? - the market changes daily - the results therefore change just as often. It's a forest for the trees sort of thing. Sorry I didn't update the twitter post at the exact same time I updated other comments on the internet. Thanks for your curiosity |

3/7/2018 5:34:27 PM Looks like we now have about 6 months of actual Noplex stock picks performance data: 1. Almost all of the exact same info was sent out in the free Noplex Stock Report except for the 2 picks after 2/16 and the following header info: "116% Annual Rate of Return based on $25,000 Model Margin Portfolio" 2. Lot of data here but some initial observations: a. While the Noplex touted plan is to Get In, Get Out, and Move On; the data shows that occasionally positions are expected to be held 2 weeks or longer and 1 as long as 27 trading days. b. 118 picks, 30 losing trades represents about 76% win percentage. c. Apparently its not always just 1 pick per day as the first day in this data set had 6 different picks. d. Longest winning streak 12 picks, longest losing streak 7 picks. e. 155 possible trading days with 37 no pick days. probably more observations to come... Ed S. |
