SF: It appears that once a period of inactivity lapses, when a given SF thread has no more responses, that the thread eventually is lost as newer "active" ones replace it in the memory storage bank of SF Forum threads. Please correct me if I am wrong.
This particular thread has been inactive for a long time, but it would be a shame if it was lost. It has particular historical value to members of the "Muddy Method" group, and also has current trading value to traders interested in Bollinger bands.

sorry to bump an old thread. I have been talking with Muddy quite a bit, and it is so impressive to see how the same method that he used 3yrs ago, is still making him (and others) money TODAY
unbeleivable!

2 years to the day i started this thread,it has been going stronger ever since,in that time we have evolved into the stockfetcher/muddy group with 1078 members since we started up in June 2003,plus adding the MSN group BNG with live chat alerts,i've seen folks saying nobody on stockfetcher forums is willing to help,this sure doesn't appply to my friends ( and there are dozens,you know who you are )they have spent countless hours adding files and posting picks trying to help, it's really a great feeling to be involved with such class people and this my thanks to them

Wallman
Is there any possibility to upgrade this excellent filter to show stocks where the price is crossing the lower RAISING bollingerband.
The reason I am asking this, because it is a low risk area to buy a stock while the lower band is going up, can you help please to get the filter for this condition.
Thanks

Any sucessful backtests of a BB filter? The system i use is descretionary and treats the signals as more of an alert. Im dissappointed in my approachs sucess

Wallman,
Have made 6 trades with your method, small bets with small + net. I like it. Made several mistakes and need much practice and experience.I cant watch the market during the day. Must use buy stops with limits and sell stops
placed at noon. Sceening for minimum 2% tails + 2% down from previous close seem to give me some comfort level(right, or wrong) to set my sell stop. Buy stop is set to 2% above previous close). Plan to size positions so all losses will be the same size so that I can take the ones that indicate a stop loss of 20+%.
Do you have any thoughts on whether these hard and fast entries exits are reasonable or likely not to work. Any suggestions would be appeciated.
/* tail is 2% below close(reversal) , buystop is 2% above close(green) , sell stop is 2% below low(failure) */
set {x,low * .01}
set{y, close * .02}
set{ sellstop, low -x}
set{ buystop, close +y}
set{diff,buystop-sellstop}
set{rawloss, diff/buystop}
set{loss%, rawloss*100}
add column buystop
add column sellstop
add column loss%
and close is 2% above low and
SHOW STOCKS WHERE CLOSE HAS BEEN DECREASING OVER THE LAST 3 DAYS AND AVERAGE VOLUME(90)IS ABOVE 300,000 AND CLOSE PRICE IS BETWEEN 1 AND 10 AND PRICE TOUCHED LOWER BOLLINGER BAND(20)
