Cheese,

I agree with your post above, but I also believe in helping others as I believe you always get back more than you give. I have not been able to give nearly what I have received from other SF members, including you.

I do run a private Facebook group for beginning Swing Traders. I talk about SF at every chance and I know at least a few that have joined SF since opening my group 2 years ago.

I get enjoyment out of knowing I am making a small change in 600 of my members lives by helping them.

I know you and others here get the same joy out of helping here on SF or these forums would not be as valuable as they have become.

Thanks to ALL here on SF that help others, even with "silly" questions!

I agree 100% what you have said.
Life is short, and not all about money and prestige.
If we can help lift people up, we should do it.

Sandjco
In total honesty, I'm releasing this filter because it's time has come.
I do remember posting that message though.
One has nothing to do with the other.
What a coincidence, so glad you posted that text.
I'm hoping more astute coders and traders, can frame and improve this very simple and primitive fliter, when compared to works of art that some of the other SF traders post.
I want to hang them on my wall.
Robert

@kos...

You and I know there is nothing "primitive" in the filters that we all put the work in.

Some can code more elegantly vs others. But you and I know...in the end, it does not matter as long as it works and helps.

At the end of the day, even when this filter is released...I can guarantee u that there will still be some that will not trade it the way you do!

Hence, my belief that while a filter is a great tool...it is you that makes the trade work!

Cheers,

I still have not been able to combine the 2 filters.
Here is the filter I use to find consolidation.
The tighter the consolidation the better.
low has been above cema(low,2) 4 month low for the last 3 months
cema(low,2) 4 month low has been increasing for the last 2 days
high has been below cema(low,2) 3 month high for the last 3 months
draw cema(low,2) 4 month low
draw cema(low,2) 4 month high
draw cema(low,2) 1 month high
and chart-type is ohlc
sector(medical)
and price is between .75 and 10

The volume filter is

Average volume (2) is crossing above average volume(3)
and average volume(3) is crossing above average volume(5)
and average volume(5) is below average volume(30)
And average volume(30) is > than 200,000

If anyone can combine these two filters without ruining the results.
I will put you on my Christmas list.
Regards
Robert

Robert,

Thanks for sharing.

Nothing wrong with your coding.

Your two filters combined yield very very few picks bcause of the strict conditions you specified.

Just for fun, I relaxed your price conditions, and I got AXSM for Aug 20, 2020 end-of-day

Your filter gives more interesting results when I SLIGHTLY relaxed 2 of your volume conditions

Thanks Cheese
I have found if the average volume(5) is still below average volume(30) it will get you in ahead of the crowd
Cheese do you have backtesting capabilities?
I would love to see a printout of these filters combined.
Or just the first filter sans the volume filter
