This is an interesting way of playing pairs, and I understand the initiate action signals generated by your code. What I'm unclear on is the close action signal. In reviewing the backtest, I don't understand what triggers the sale.
In the most recent pair, the signal on 5/20 is clear, the signal on 5/31 escapes me. Can you advise further?
NM...I think I figured it out on my own. The sell signal is when the Z-score crosses the center line.

This is unreal. unexpected. of course, my great timing -- I was long on TVIX and sold it today. would be down a long time. and if trump wins the election in 4 months, more instability.

I would say buying long on most stocks wouldn't be wise until the dust settles. Anything that's a safe haven when the markets are in a dump would be a good bet. Then again a reset of stocks means another buying opportunity down the road.
IMHO!
To me Brexit vote to leave to me is a rejection of current politicians .
Could this be a preview of Trump being elected?
Who knows.
