While this was my original proposal to explore, I certainly have made more money using a long/short approach that is not "paired" - see my recent posts in the "Intraday Alerts" Thread.
This is really about making money while managing risk - pair trades do this but at a lower overall return and it seems like a longer time frame. I know other traders who have pairs as a central component in their trading (and they do better than me), so I'm not knocking the approach at all. I like the statistical underpinning of the strategy, and may return to it in a bit. Right now I am looking at other ways to trade.
