I have been learning some of the features of the site, and was looking at a crossover filter. The filter I am trying is below:

SHOW STOCKS WHERE THE MA(10) CROSSED ABOVE MA(50)

Plenty of results are returned, but it seems like there are some matches that crossed over a while ago.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Jim S.

Hi,

It looks like your filter is right-on, except that StockFetcher uses a default: "WINDOW" of 4 days when computing a crossover. This is to allow plenty of matches by default. You can restrict that window with the "within the last ... days" phrase.

So here would be your filter with crossovers only from the most recent day.

show stocks where the MA(10) crossed above the MA(50) within the last 1 day

One other note, in the StockFetcher forums, you can actually specifiy your filters using:
Fetcher[your filter phrase here]

to create a link with your filter. For example:

Fetcher[show stocks where the MA(10) crossed above the MA(50) within the last 1 day]

Thanks and good luck!

Tom
