Attempting to create a scan filter that can locate stocks that have been in
a channel for a long period of time with very narrow highs and lows; this
is followed by a sudden, significant move up that closes outside of the
highs of the channel with a noticeable increase in volume. The purpose
is to find stocks that may be breaking out and up-trending.
My attempts of creating the correct phrases have proved to be unfruitful
so far, although I haven't given up the ghost yet. The links above kind of
show what I mean.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Do you really mean "higher volume each day thereafter" because the chart you've attached doesn't have volume increasing every single day..
Regarding higher highs and higher lows, do you have a preferred timeframe for this to happen as it is hard to tell from the chart as there are periods during the run-up where a price hits a lower low before resuming the trend upward.
Thanks,
Ed S.

Thanks for the reply Ed :-)
The attached chart doesn't represent exactly what I mean. It's the closest thing I could find to it though.
Look at the left side where the price highs and lows stayed in a very tight channel for a fairly long time,
and there was also very little volume during that time period. Then you will see the volume increases
significantly and the price gets above the channel. I'd prefer it to do this without spiking, but just build for
a few days with volume increasing each day above the one before.

just look at the chart as if it ended at the 23rd +-
Trying to catch it before the move got rolling.

Thanks for the insight. I'll take a closer look at that later today.
