Karen, have you looked at the "volatility indices" thread? It has all of these as well as the Oil Volatility Index ^OVX.
What specific filter are you trying to apply to these indices?

Thanks, Kevin.
I'll go back and look at your charts.
I'm not yet TOTALLY convinced ANY chart tells you when the market is going to turn .. for an extended period of time.
As someone previously mentioned on another thread, many stocks have triple topped and are still going up!
Yes, the market was down TODAY ... but what's the significance of that? It could be up tomorrow ...
BTW, I wasn't applying filters .... Just wanted to look at the charts.
Thx.

Ugh!
Kevin,
I just looked at your ^VIX chart.
I see the RSI(2) did hit 2.
Can't go much lower than that!
LOL!

True, but it can STAY at 2 for longer than you might think. That's why I look at the position relative to the Bollinger Bands. By definition they represent a 95% confidence limit (thus any close outside of these bands should be looked at to "snap back" to the median with a pretty high probability). Look at today's VIX action as an example.
