9/2/2009 11:47:07 PM I'm unable to find "MarketWatch trades" so don't know if there's another criteria there that I'm missing but the following filter can be used to bring up stocks (1) equal or better to yesterday's gains, (2) with volume 100000 or more traded today. You may want to add "and close > X" since the filter below brings up stocks $0.0000 or greater. There's a lot of really cheap ones out there you may want to ignore. The volume increase over the average volume over the past 10 days can be changed to desired time frame such as "average volume(100)" or you can eliminate it entirely. I'm thinking you want stocks with stronger than usual volume for a stock. If you add the forward slash and asterisk -- /*don't use these words*/ -- on V%Chg, for today (9/3/09), elimating it from the filter, 578 stocks come up. If you use it as is but change V%Chge > 25, 200 stocks come up and at V%Chg > 50 (these are percents of average volume(10), 146 stocks come up today. Using the V%Chg > 50 for last Friday, August 28th, ETFC does come up in the 300% plus volume over the 10-day average volume (I believe). Suggestions for improvements and/or if I've misunderstood M4M, please let me know and I'll see if I can improve it as per your recommendations. You'll need to copy/paste into a new filter, too tired to study how to make it clickable. V%Chg > 50 and Dlr%Chg > -.0001 and volume > 999999 add column close and sort column 5 ascending set{A, close / close 1 day ago} set{B, A - 1} set{Dlr%Chg, B * 100} add column Dlr%Chg set{C, volume / average volume(10)} set{D, C - 1} set{V%Chg, D * 100} add column V%Chg add column industry |

Etfc didn't hold up well in the sell off on tues.I expect a decent pullback in the sept to nov timeframe so if you are looking for a short term trade only it might work, however, if you are investing for the long term you may want to wait. I will be observing the performance of ETFC during pullbacks. If it holds steady or moves up during market declines, this will bolster the case for strength short and long term Rich |
