I’ve seen a lot of filters on this website that work and some that don’t work. My question out there to all you StockFetcher fans is this:
Does anyone have a filter that has been back-tested for 4 years (back-tested on StockFetcher twice) and still comes out as a consistent winner?
No one is asking for the filter itself (unless you want to give it out), just
Some additional criteria to include:
Give us an idea of what kind of trading it does (momentum, breakout, etc)?
The price ranges the filter trades (penny stocks, $5.00 - $32.00 range, etc.)
Is it long or short?
How long do you hold it for (if a set period)?
What determines your exit (if willing to divulge)?
What types of stops do you use and amounts (if willing to divulge)?
Do mechanically trade this filter or are you discretionary?
ROI, draw downs, net change,
If your filter doesn’t trade well over 4 years, what periods does it work best?
What kind of account size do you use for this filter (if willing to divulge)?
Any other information/descriptions you want to give!
Any and all comments welcome!

Yes, I have one that has an 80% success rate over 4 years, with an average gain/trade of around 10%. Here's proof that it actually does work:
http://www.stocktickr.com/BTStrader/closed/
It finds oversold stocks using RSI(2).
No stop loss.
Profit stop of 15%.
Also sell if RSI(5)>75.
No set holding period. They all get sold sooner or later based on above sell rules.

traderblues,
Thanks for sharing your filter! I used the information you provided for a back-test and it came out pretty good. I also looked at your stocktickr and you blog. I was curious how you sort which stocks you trade and how many you will trade at a given time. Do you trade mostly penny stocks etc? Thanks.

I'm reluctant to give out any more details. I have other parameters that weed out the stocks further, so I typically only get about 3 or 4 new picks per week.

traderblues...one of the potential problems I see with your approach is in a strongly downtrending market, rsi can get stuck on oversold for quite some time. What are your rules for getting out in these situations?

maxreturn,
I assume when you say "strong downtrending market", you are referring to the overall market? I have a couple of signals I follow that alert me to overall bear markets. My plan is during these periods I will scale back on this system, and focus more on my short-selling system. My backtests suggest that I could stick with this system, and it would ride out any bear markets, but I'm not totally convinced of that. During the next downturn, I will paper-trade this and see how it does. I started this in early July, so I wasn't trading it during the sharp drop in May.
