Filter searchs for weekly cross overs,so run it on fridays after market close.If you use "Data off set 5" should give you last week closing results ,so best time is fridays after closing as I sad, during the week-end you will have lot of time to do your homework.I add sector ,industry, RSI(14),MFI, columns,than narrow it down to 2 or 3 sectors(3 stocks from each group)start reading the yahoo industry news, check up-down grades,find healty stocks in each group,holding times from 1 week to 6 weeks.
Double stochastic indicator or cycle indicator would show the big picture easly, but SF dont't have it,nor the other web-sites, except Metastock-TC2000-ESIGNAL

I tried your filters but I prefer this one.
Show stocks where volume reached a new 12 day high
and 34-day increasing slope channel
and Average Volume(56) is below 789000
and Money Flow Index (12) is above 34
and Mass Index(56) indicating bullish trend reversal

If you like the bands here you go. This is simple and sweet.
Show stocks where upper bollinger band(10) crossed above upper bollinger band(20)
and Average Volume(90) is above 50000
and close is between 1 and 2

I would like to run some back tests of these different screens, but do not know how. Can someone explain how to do backtests in simple terms, so us newbies can understand.

Dick,,,,at the end of the filter statement add " and date offset is x(x being number of days to backtest".

I tried out your filter of:
