 Very, very cheap. Forget: freetrade.com, they want $5000 as a balance, and buyandhold.com is not good either.  I now have scottrade..I buy stocks under .25

 Ameritrade charges $10.99/trade.  Don't know if there's any account $ limit, or share limit for this commission.  I know the 10.99 is good up to a few thousand shares, at least.  I also think there is a $ limit for IRAs, but maybe not for a regular account.  (Obviously, I haven't hit these limits, if there are any...)
 
 In general, I'm fairly happy with Ameritrade.  They're about to launch a new web interface that looks promising, too.

 www.interactivebrokers.com  $1 for 100 shares   if you want to just by 100 lots of better quality stocks....pennies will get you eventually....
